Top Areas to Watch in 2019

by Linda FLEISCHER 06/09/2019

There are many neighborhoods to watch if you are considering buying a home this year, or moving from your current location. Identifying the most promising areas in the US to keep an eye out for comes by looking at their increase in home values, the number of days on the average that homes for sale are on the market and the changes in the number of days listed properties stay on the market.

The areas to watch this new year spread all over the country and fit a wide range of personalities and options. Here are some of the hottest neighborhoods to watch in the U.S. today:

Normandy Estate, Florida

This beautiful, convenient part of Jacksonville, Florida is a young community (median age of 38) filled with beaches, sunshine and lots of shaded areas. Pets are common in Normandy Estate as well as streets lined with elegant trees. Most of the homes have large, green backyards that are perfect for children and pets. As a source of real estate investment, home values went up by 13.2% in 2018. Most of the homes here are moderately priced and under $170,000 in many cases.

Southeast Colorado Springs, Colorado

This area is experiencing a steady uptick in the employment rate and a young generation of homeowners. It is also a great place where neighbors are friendly, and there's plenty of green space for children, pets, and the Pike National Forest. All these features make Colorado Springs a great place to raise children. The home value in Southeast Colorado Springs increased by over 12% in 2018 and is still on the increase in case you are considering a new place to live in 2019.

Southeast Austin, Texas

Austin remains one of the most desirable places to live in America. It is the home of Whole Foods, Barton Springs, and SXSW (South by Southwest). There are many amazing communities in Austin within a distance of Zilker Park and Town Lake. Finding nice places to have breakfast and lunch is also easy in Austin with many coffee shops and diners to try. There are plenty of newer homes in Austin, covered with colorful tiles and modern accouterments. Most Austin homes also come with spacious yards, lovely patios and outdoor ceiling fans for cooling during the hot summer. The home value in Austin rose by 16% in 2018 and has shown no signs of slowing down in the coming year.
